The captain's drunk again.
And the crew's below
Playing cards
Keeping entertained
While above
The captain trips and falls
There's no one there to see

The cook he draws a pair
The first mate has a straight
And all eyes
Are waiting for the bets
While above
The weather takes a turn
The wind begins to blow

Keep your eyes on your cards
Only while you're playing
Keep a look out up ahead
Pick your battles well
For while you look where you are fighting
Thieves may move in from behind

The rocks of the sea
The cook has lost the hand
The cards are dealt
And the ale is poured
While above
The ships it moves off course
The captain's fast asleep

The first mate's had too much
And some words are said
And then fists
While the cook is down
While below
The ship has struck a reef
The end is now in site

Keep your eyes on your cards
Only while you're playing
Keep a look out up ahead

And so it comes to blows
While the water creeps
They fight on
