Notes: Studying in the UK, I wrote a song about the UK, and its fall from world power to its current state of still a decent place to be, but no longer a top dog. At the time I wrote this, they still held Hong Kong. The song has echoes of the US today as well, though it was written specifically about the UK in the late 1990s. This was one of my more popular live songs when I first started performing solo in the 1990s and every now and then, I play an abridged version of it. This original is a little too long. The "G-d Save the Queen Bridge" makes me cringe and my vocal needs work, but this is still one of the stronger tracks from this early period. It features the first of several mandolins I've owned. Some how, I managed to lose this specific mandolin. |
In these northern cities they dream
The Lion and the Unicorn
In the country some will dream
The Lion and the Unicorn
And in London some still dream
The Lion and the Unicorn |
