In these northern cities they dream
of the times when life was fair.
The coal is gone the industry
lies to rust without pity.

In these southern cities they dream
of the times when they were more.
The world looks on but all they see
is lots of rain and lots of tea.

The Lion and the Unicorn
looks upon a world that's gone.
The sun has finally set on her dominion.

There was a time when England ruled
the earth, the sea, the sky, the world.
The sun has set upon her vast dominion.

In the country some will dream
of a time, a Britain more pure.
They look across the channel with scorn
there's one more job that they see as gone.

Empires rise and Empires fall.
Now history and nothing more.
The sun has finally set on her dominion.

Kings will come and kings will go.
They're relics now and nothing more.
The sun has set upon her vast dominion.

And in London some still dream
about the times the glory passed
but on the street, most come and go
days will pass, and life goes on.
