Forgotten Songs

These are the forgotten songs
Though I will try to remember
There's so much to remember
These are the forgotten sounds
Heard in smoky cafes
I've seen our heads brought in on trays
We are the forgotten ones
Walking streets that won't record
The dreams unmet, the lives ignored
We are the forgotten worlds
Ever open for reflection
Yet no one cares for such inspection
These are the forgotten words
Few will listen, less will hear
Will any see the lights appear?
These are the forgotten tales
Told in hopes of some connection
Where others see their own reflection
These are the forgotten sparks
Fires that fuel the living
And should none take, we shall keep giving
These are the forgotten hopes
Lights of the best that man can be
Fight on through the apathy
These are the forgotten songs
Though I shall try to remember
There's so much to remember
