No Lies

I spoke to an old friend who'd finally come to know
A betrayal, a deception that was hidden for so long
I asked him how he took it, and he turned and shock his head
And if I could I'd take back all the words I'd never said
But no words were ever spoken, there were only alibis
Yet he'd learned each word I never spoke
We watched as the thread finally broke
And then there were no lies
I went back to the places which we'd haunted full of life
But ghosts of loyalty had faded and were gone
I'd hoped to find a glimpse of something lost along the way
And if I could I'd take back all the words I couldn't say
But no words were even spoken when the moment dies
I knew that he had come to learn
We watched the bridge begin to burn
And then there were no lies
But no words were even spoken as deception justifies
He'd finally learned all that I know
We watched the blood begin to flow
And then there were no lies
